Position: Route Setter
Reports to: Head Route Setter
Job Summary:
We are looking for a creative, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual who is looking to utilize their climbing knowledge and experience to create high-quality, fun routes for our community. The setter should be driven, open to feedback and criticism, and thrive in a team environment.
A Route setter is responsible for our customers' experiences on the wall. We expect a member of our setting team to be courteous and to engage with the community often. The community is the most important part of our company and should be the focus of every member of the setting staff.
Job Duties/Expectations:
Set 2-3 days per week
Update the Distribution Form with new sets
Forerun and maintain a high level of safety and quality setting throughout the gym
Maintain consistency in grades throughout the gym
Organize and maintain the integrity of the tools, holds, and any other setting equipment or facilities
Strip old routes, wash holds, and help maintain the integrity of the climbing wall
Seek out feedback from customers and get involved with the community
Work efficiently to meet time constraints provided by management
Work in a team environment with other setters while following the direction of the Head Setter
Qualification:
At least two years of climbing experience, both indoor and outdoor preferred
In-depth knowledge of climbing technique and movement
Creative thinking and problem solving
Actively involved in the climbing community
Able to work with a team to give and receive constructive criticism
Comfortable working on ladders with tools at height
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
Preferred experience working with hand-held power tools (Impact driver, angle grinder, etc)
Compensation/Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage based on years of experience
Reimbursement for work related travel
Work shoe stipend (1 approach, 1 forerunning)
